Just a quick anecdote this morning from Nationals pitching prospect Ryan Tatusko, who is pitching for the Bravos de Margarita in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League this winter.
The Bravos were playing at home against the Cardenales de Lara on Friday night when it was announced over the public address system that Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos had been returned safe from kidnappers.
When the news came over the loudspeaker, Tatusko said the park "went nuts" and gave Ramos a standing ovation. The announcement, of course, was in Spanish, so Tatusko had to ask a teammate to translate it for him, but it wasn't hard to tell what could have the crowd so excited.
Players have been wearing green ribbons on their uniforms in support of Ramos, a native of Valencia, Venezuela, who was abducted in front of his home on Wednesday night and was rescued by Venezuelan authorities about 51 hours later.
We'll have more later today.
