Game 32 lineups: Nats at Phillies

The Nationals continue their 11-game road trip in Philadelphia tonight as they open a four-game set against the Phillies. The Nats went 1-2 in Boston and 0-2 last week against the Phillies in D.C., and are now 6-6 on the road.

Tonight's pitching matchup features right-hander Erick Fedde (1-2, 3.57 ERA) opposing the Phillies right-hander Spencer Howard (0-1, 6.17).

Last week against the Phillies, Fedde took the loss in an 8-3 setback, giving up four runs on seven hits over five innings with one strikeout and one walk. The big blow was a J.T. Realmuto three-run shot to right field in a four-run third inning for the Phillies.

Turner-HR-Swing-Gray-sidebar.jpgHoward is the Phillies' top pitching prospect, and has not started a game since Aug. 20. Howard was scheduled to face the Nats Aug. 27 but the game was postponed until Sept. 22. According to, Howard employs a four-seam fastball clocked at 95 mph, an 84 mph slider, an 80 mph changeup and a 74 mph curveball.

Trea Turner is riding a career-high 15-game hit streak and has reached base in 21 straight games dating back to Aug. 8. With two hits Sunday in the 9-5 loss at Boston, Yan Gomes is now enjoying a 10-game hitting streak. Kurt Suzuki had the day off, so his career-high 11-game hitting streak is still active. Howie Kendrick has recorded at least one RBI in a career-best eight straight games. It is the second longest RBI streak in franchise history. Ryan Zimmerman had a nine-game RBI streak from Sept. 3-12, 2012.
