Game 96 lineups: Nats at Orioles

This season's edition of the Battle of the Beltways concludes this weekend in Baltimore after the Nationals swept the Orioles in D.C. in May.

Zimmerman-HR-Swing-Gray-Sidebar.jpgManager Davey Martinez has been asked a lot recently about how he can use Josh Bell and Ryan Zimmerman in the same lineup, with Bell getting some reps in left field during batting practice recently and Zimmerman trying to get his swing back from earlier in the year.

That won't be a problem this weekend, though, in an American League ballpark. Bell is starting at first base tonight and Zimmerman is serving as the designated hitter.

Still looking for some consistency, Patrick Corbin takes the mound tonight for the Nats. He is 6-8 on the season with a 5.66 ERA, not helped by the six runs he allowed in 5 1/3 innings against the Padres last week in his first start of the second half.

Corbin gave up four runs and 11 hits with three strikeouts and two walks over 5 1/3 innings in a win against the Orioles on May 23. The southpaw is 1-2 with a 5.06 ERA in five games (four starts) against the Birds in his career.

Jorge López still gets the start tonight for the Orioles after they shuffled around their weekend pitching plans earlier today. Rookie right-hander Spenser Watkins was supposed to start tomorrow, but now veteran Matt Harvey will make that start with left-hander John Means taking the mound for Sunday's finale.

López has a 6.04 ERA, two wins and a major league-worst 12 losses on the season. One of those losses came against the Nats on May 21, though he gave up only two runs and seven hits while striking out eight over five innings. This will be just his second start against the Nats in his career.

Note: The Nationals signed their second-round draft pick, outfielder Daylen Lile out of Trinity High School in Kentucky, earlier today. Only top pick Brady House has yet to sign with the deadline to do so being Aug. 1.
