Starting lineups: Nats vs. Astros and Marlins

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - It's not exactly ideal to have to play split-squad games this late in the spring. But with an odd number of teams training in both Florida and Arizona, somebody has to split up (or be off) every day of the exhibition season. So the Nationals drew the short straw tonight and will be playing a pair of games: home against the Astros (6:05 p.m. on MASN) and road against the Marlins (7:05 p.m.).

A.J.-Cole-throwing-white-sidebar.jpgDavey Martinez will be staying here in West Palm Beach to watch A.J. Cole start and Matt Adams play left field for the first time this spring. It's one of those "just-in-case" things, not necessarily something Martinez wants to do regularly, but he at least wants to know Adams can handle it if the need arises.

Bench coach Chip Hale and pitching coach Derek Lilliquist, meanwhile, will drive up to Jupiter to watch Jeremy Hellickson make his first game appearance since signing a minor league contract last week. The veteran right-hander is slated to throw approximately 60 pitches.
