Orioles announce 2017 promotions and special events

The Orioles today released their 2017 promotional schedule highlighted by several new items, including an Orioles Maryland flag script replica jersey, a Manny Machado Starting Lineup figure, Zach Britton and Jonathan Schoop bobbleheads, a new design for the popular hooded sweatshirt, and a 25th Anniversary of Oriole Park at Camden Yards replica ballpark, as well as the return of several fan-favorite events including Kids’ Opening Day and Friday Fireworks Nights. The Maryland flag script jersey, Machado figure, and Oriole Park replica, as well as five t-shirts and a knit cap, will be distributed to all fans in attendance. Additionally, the family-friendly Kids Run the Bases program, presented by Weis Markets, after every Sunday home game will return for the 2017 season.

The Orioles will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Oriole Park at Camden Yards throughout 2017 with several special giveaways and events. All fans will receive a commemorative Oriole Park at Camden Yards replica ballpark on August 19 as part of the season-long celebration. Additional plans for the 25th anniversary season will be forthcoming.

All fans in attendance will have an opportunity to showcase their Maryland pride on May 20, when the Orioles give away Orioles Maryland script replica jerseys featuring the Maryland state flag. During the game, Orioles players and coaches will also wear Orioles Maryland flag script jerseys and caps, which will be authenticated and auctioned for charity. More details about this event will be available at a later date.

Several additional items this year will help Orioles fans show off their Birdland pride at home. An Orioles welcome mat and a Birdland yard flag will be distributed to the first 20,000 fans 15 and over on April 22 and May 9, respectively. On July 22, all fans 21 and over will enjoy an Orioles infielders bottle stopper set featuring Machado, Schoop, Chris Davis, and J.J. Hardy.

Two new Orioles bobbleheads will be unveiled in 2017. The first will feature two-time American League All-Star and the 2016 American League Reliever of the Year Zach Britton on July 1. The second will depict second baseman Jonathan Schoop on August 5, presented by Ocean City, Maryland. Additionally, all fans can collect a Starting Lineup figure featuring three-time American League All-Star Manny Machado on June 3.

The Orioles will begin the 2017 season on Opening Day, Monday, April 3, when all fans in attendance at Oriole Park will receive an Orioles schedule magnet. At the end of Opening Week on Sunday, April 9, the Orioles will celebrate their third annual Kids’ Opening Day, as all fans 14 and under will receive an Orioles kids’ fedora. A variety of unique activities will be offered to randomly-selected children, such as delivering the lineup card before the game and serving as a guest public address announcer. Following the game, kids ages 14 and under can run the bases like their favorite Orioles players during the first of 13 Kids Run the Bases opportunities taking place after every Sunday home game in 2017.

Additional kids-exclusive events this season include two Youth Baseball Days, presented by Ripken Baseball, for pre-registered youth teams (May 7, May 21) and Field Trip Day, presented by MASN and WJZ-TV, on May 24. Plus, all fans 14 and under will receive a youth bat and ball set, sponsored by Play Ball, on June 4 and an Oriole Bird bobblehead toothbrush holder, presented by United Concordia, on September 24.

Orioles T-shirt giveaways will return in 2017 for all fans on five dates (May 8, May 29, June 21, August 1, and September 4). Designs will be revealed at a later date. Three new hats will also debut in 2017 including an Orioles floppy hat, presented by Miller Lite (June 2), an Orioles greyscale cap (Father’s Day, June 18), and an Orioles knit cap (September 19). The Orioles will also give away a tote bag, sponsored by MLB Network, on May 6 and a ballpark exclusive 2017 Orioles baseball card set, presented by Topps, on August 6.

Other popular events include Fan Appreciation Weekend from September 22-24, Friday Fireworks Nights, which will occur on five occasions (May 19, June 16, July 21, August 18, and September 22) and Student Nights for every Friday home game (all left field upper reserve tickets are $7 with valid student ID). This year’s Fan Appreciation Weekend will include postgame fireworks on September 22, and the final Kids Run the Bases of the season, along with the toothbrush holder, presented by United Concordia, on September 24. All fans 15 and over will also receive a newly-designed Orioles hooded sweatshirt on September 23.
