The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitchers Trevor Gott and Wander Suero from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. Additionally, the Nationals placed right-handed pitchers Brandon Kintzler (right forearm flexor strain) and Stephen Strasburg (right shoulder inflammation) on the 10-day disabled list. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcements.
Gott, 25, returns to the Nationals for his third stint of the 2018 season. He has appeared in 17 games out of Washington’s bullpen, securing two holds while going 0-2 with a 5.28 ERA. He has inherited eight runners in 17 games and has yet to allow any to score.
Suero, 26, has appeared in 12 games for the Nationals, going 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA. He has offered scoreless relief in nine of his 12 outings.
Kintzler, 33, is 1-2 with two saves, 13 holds and a 4.45 ERA in 31 games out of the bullpen.
Strasburg, 29, is 5-5 with a 3.46 ERA in 13 starts. He ranks fourth in the National League with 95 strikeouts.
