The Washington Nationals returned from rehabilitation assignment and reinstated first baseman Ryan Zimmerman from the 10-Day Injured List and optioned outfielder Michael A. Taylor to Double-A Harrisburg on Friday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Zimmerman, 34, returns to the active roster after missing 53 games with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Prior to the injury, he hit .213 with three doubles, three homers, 11 RBI, 10 walks and seven runs scored in 22 games. In five games prior to the injury, Zimmerman was 6-for-20 (.300) with a double and two home runs.
Taylor, 28, is 16-for-76 (.211) with five doubles, two RBI, seven walks, four stolen bases and six runs scored in 16 games for the Nationals in 2019.
