Earlier tonight, the Oriole Advocates honored Orioles infielder Hanser Alberto, the recipient of the 2020 Oriole Way Award, during a virtual ceremony. The Oriole Advocates, with the support of the Baltimore Orioles, created the Oriole Way Award to recognize a member of the Orioles who has made significant contributions both on and off the field and who has demonstrated a sincere desire to serve the community.
The award is presented annually to an Oriole whose participation in the community also embraces the Oriole Advocates’ mission of promoting and stimulating interest in baseball.
Since making his Major League debut with the Texas Rangers in 2015, Alberto has tirelessly supported his community in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic, through his family foundation, Fundación Alberto Brito. Since joining the Orioles in 2018, Alberto has been a steady presence in the Orioles’ lineup and in the team’s community efforts, also being selected as the 2020 Orioles nominee for the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award. In support of his Oriole Way Award, the Oriole Advocates also made a $5,000 donation to his designated charity.
