Heavy rains force doubleheader for Nats and Mets Saturday

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Heavy rains in the northeast forced the postponement of tonight’s Nationals game against the Mets at Citi Field. The two teams will play a split-admission doubleheader with the first game scheduled for 1:10 p.m. and the nightcap at 7:10 p.m.

The games must be played because the Mets are currently tied with the Dodgers in the league standings at 89-70. The two teams will play each other in the National League Division Series, but home field is still up in the air with the Mets holding the tiebreaker.

Bryce Harper’s slim two point lead in the race for the National League batting title will remain over Miami’s Dee Gordon through the night. The Marlins were washed out in Philadelphia and will also play a doubleheader on Saturday.
