We last held one of these Q&As during the week leading up to Thanksgiving, and considering how much has happened to the Nationals since then, this feels like a good time to hold another one.
The Winter Meetings have come and gone, as has Nats Winterfest. Adam Eaton is the new center fielder. Derek Norris is the new catcher. Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez are now White Sox. Mark Melancon is a Giant, Aroldis Chapman is a Yankee and Kenley Jansen remains a Dodger. Which means the Nationals closer is ... well, uh, that’s not entirely clear.
There’s still plenty of time, of course, for Mike Rizzo to add to his roster before pitchers and catchers report to West Palm Beach, Fla., where they’re furiously trying to get the new complex ready in time. Don’t be surprised if there’s a flurry of activity over the next week, in fact, before most of the baseball world takes some time off around the holidays.
In the meantime, I’m here to answer your hot stove questions as best as I can. Submit them in the comments section below, and then check back over the course of the morning as I attempt to respond to as many as possible.
