Baker trots out potential opening day lineup for Viera finale (game canceled)

VIERA, Fla. - And so we have come to this historic moment: the final spring training game ever played at Space Coast Stadium. And it's only fitting that it features the only two franchises that have called this place home since it opened in 1994: the Nationals and Marlins.

Stephen-Strasburg-focused-spring.jpgThe Marlins, who have trained in Jupiter since 2003, aren't bringing anybody here today who would have been a part of those teams that played in this ballpark back in the day. They aren't bringing much of anybody of consequence, in fact. Just one of the biggest drawbacks to Viera: its remote location with respect to every other spring training camp in Florida.

The Nationals, on the other hand, are sending everybody of consequence out there to play today. This might just be a preview of Dusty Baker's opening day lineup (with Max Scherzer pitching instead of Stephen Strasburg, of course) ...

Update: The final game at Space Coast Stadium has been canceled due to rain, an unfortunate way to end 12 years of spring ball in Viera. This is second time in four days that the Nats have had a game rained out.
