Game 146 lineups: Nats vs. Marlins

The nexus of the universe stands at the corner of South Capitol Street and Potomac Avenue SE this afternoon, where both the Nationals and Marlins will be sending left-handed pitchers to the mound named Rogers. OK, so this is hardly cosmos-bending stuff, but it is a funny little quirk about the matchup for today's series finale at Nationals Park.

Josh Rogers gets the start for the Nats, his third since his promotion from Triple-A Rochester. And he's been pretty good in each of his previous two outings against the Mets and Pirates, so there's certainly reason to hope he can keep the trend up this afternoon against a fairly weak-hitting Marlins lineup.

Trevor Rogers, meanwhile, gets the ball for the Marlins, and he has been excellent all season. The 23-year-old All-Star has a 2.73 ERA in 22 starts, though the Nats have had some modest success against him (five runs in 10 innings).

Thumbnail image for Hernandez-Takes-Off-for-First-Sidebar.jpgToday's Nationals lineup sees Josh Bell return to first base after a start in left field Tuesday night. Yadiel Hernandez returns to his familiar spot, even though he'll be facing a left-hander. And Jordy Mercer gets the nod at second base over Luis García, who has certainly played a lot here over the last month and could probably use a quick breather.
