Game 65 lineups: Nats vs. Cubs

The Nationals had plenty of reason to feel good about themselves last night after a 4-1 victory over the Cubs, one of their better wins of the season to date. But they arrived at the ballpark today to the news that they need to find a new closer for at least the next 15 days, with Jonathan Papelbon landing on the disabled list for the first time in his career with a right intercostal strain.

We'll have to wait and see who Dusty Baker tabs as his ninth-inning guy for now, but it would be hard not to go back to Shawn Kelley, who dominated last night, striking out four of the five batters he faced.

gio-gonzalez-red-throwing.jpgThe Nationals, of course, need to actually put themselves in position for a save before they can do anything else. So they'll ask Gio Gonzalez to put together a quality outing tonight, hoping the left-hander can avoid the first-inning trouble that got him last week against the White Sox and pitch more like the guy who tossed six scoreless innings after that inauspicious first frame.

Veteran John Lackey gets the ball for the Cubs, looking to get his high-flying team back on track after dropping the opener of this big series.
