Nationals recall Andres Machado

The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Andres Machado from Triple-A Rochester and placed left-handed pitcher Evan Lee on the 15-day Injured List with a left flexor strain on Saturday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Machado, 29, joins the Nationals for his fourth Major League stint this season. Prior to being optioned on Friday, he offered scoreless relief in two of his previous four outings, pitching to a 2.35 ERA (2 ER/7.2 IP) with nine strikeouts and one walk during that stretch. He tossed more than an inning in each of the four outings and 2.0 innings in three of the four. On the season, Machado has recorded a 5.48 ERA with 21 strikeouts and nine walks in 23.0 innings across 17 relief appearances.

Lee, 25, went 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA in four games (one start) in his first stint in the Major Leagues.
