Nationals recall Wilmer Difo and Michael A. Taylor

The Washington Nationals recalled infielder Wilmer Difo from Triple-A Fresno and outfielder Michael A. Taylor from Double-A Harrisburg on Tuesday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Difo, 27, returns to the Nationals after going 19-for-45 (.422) with five doubles, two triples, one homer, 12 RBI, seven walks and 10 runs scored in his last 10 games with Triple-A Fresno. In 61 games with the Grizzlies in 2019, Difo hit .300 with a .369 on-base percentage and a .438 slugging percentage. He appeared at shortstop (32 G), second base (20 G) and third base (10 G).

In 39 Major League games with the Nationals, Difo hit .231 with two doubles, two homers, seven RBI, 12 walks and 14 runs scored. He appeared in 30 games at shortstop, filling in for an injured Trea Turner as well as third base (5 G) and second base (2 G).

Taylor, 28, recorded a .463 slugging percentage in 57 games with Double-A Harrisburg. He clubbed 16 doubles, two triples, nine homers, 35 RBI, 25 walks, 10 stolen bases and 36 runs scored during his stint with the Senators. In four games prior to his recall, Taylor went 8-for-17 (.471) with five doubles, one homer and five RBI.

Taylor hit .211 with five doubles, two RBI, seven walks, four stolen bases and six runs scored in 43 games during his first Major League stint with the Nationals in 2019.
