Patrick and Jen Corbin surprise Youth Baseball Academy families with shopping spree

The holidays have passed and the calendar has turned to 2021, but that doesn't mean one has to lose his or her spirit of giving. Especially during these uncertain times.

Nationals pitcher Patrick Corbin and his wife, Jen, certainly took that to heart as they recently surprised six families from the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy with a Macy's shopping experience via Zoom.

In case you may have missed it or forgotten, the Youth Baseball Academy safely returned to play by opening a modified version of its after-school enrichment program to a limited number of scholar-athlete participants last fall.

The Corbins certainly took notice and arranged for six families to each enjoy a $500 shopping experience at Macy's for needed supplies in appreciation of their hard work in the program. Not to mention a little fun, as well.

Continuing their strong relationship with the "Nats Academy," Nationals players have gone above and beyond for the participants and the surrounding community over this past difficult year. In addition to the Corbins' gift, contributions from current Nats include gear for the competitive HUSTLE baseball program from Trea Turner and Joe Ross, bat and ball sets from Max Scherzer to allow kids to play at home and a surprise visit from Mike Rizzo to help hand out holiday gifts.
