Become Sarasota's Voice of the Orioles

The Orioles have announced that they'll hold open tryouts on Saturday, February 20 for the position of public address announcer for the O's in Sarasota. So if you live in the vicinity of Ed Smith Stadium and think yours could be the new Voice of the O's for their first spring training in Sarasota, bring your resume and arrive at the team's new spring home by 12:30 p.m. for registration. (Complimentary parking is available in the East Parking Lot at Ed Smith Stadium.) Tryouts will begin at 1:00 p.m. sharp, and applicants will be asked to read mock lineups and make announcements on the public address system at the ballpark. But before you assume that your devotion to the O's is simply enough, consider the day game times and the commitment of all 16 home spring training games from Wednesday, March 3 through Saturday, April 3. Most games start at 1:05 p.m., though several night games are also on the schedule with 7:05 p.m. start times. The new voice of the O's must obviously be available for all games and times. Prior experience in public address work is helpful but not required. Anyone think they might give it a try? Good luck to all who do, and the rest of us look forward to hearing you at Ed Smith Stadium soon!
