Game 115 lineups: Nats at Mets

NEW YORK - The Nationals bounced back from three series losses in a row with an emphatic three-game sweep in San Francisco and now arrive at Citi Field to face off against the hottest team in Major League Baseball.

The New York Mets (59-56) have forced their way back into the playoff picture by winning 13 of their last 14 games, including sweeps over the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox and Miami Marlins. Pitching has been key as it usually is with these kind of streaks: the Mets have allowed three or less runs in 10 of those 14 games.

The sweep for the Nats over the Giants was their first against San Francisco since May 29-31, 2017, at Oracle Park. Washington has won seven of their last nine games against the Giants.

The Nats are also looking for a bounce back from one of their aces, Stephen Strasburg, who got shelled at Arizona last week. A win tonight would match his career-high of 15 wins in a season, a feat he has accomplished three times. He has now won 14 or more games in a season five times since 2010.

Strasburg (14-5, 3.72 ERA) is opposed by former Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman (6-11, 3.07). With 1,619 career strikeouts, Strasburg is two punchouts away from matching Steve Rogers on the all-time strikeout leader list in the Montreal/Washington history.

The Nats are monitoring the progress of third baseman Anthony Rendon, who left Wednesday's win with a sore toe after being hit by a pitch. It also might be a good chance to check in with right-hander Max Scherzer who has been nursing a back and shoulder issue for a few weeks.

Shortstop Trea Turner is riding a 16-game on-base streak after his leadoff single in the first inning. Left fielder Juan Soto has a 14-game on-base streak after his walk in the third inning. His on-base percentage ranks 10th in the Majors.

Note: Wednesday, Major League Baseball announced Double-A Harrisburg pitcher Steven Fuentes received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Heptaminol, a stimulant in violation of the Program. His suspension begins immediately.
