Game postponed, rescheduled for Sept. 4 doubleheader

Tonight's game between the Nationals and the Braves at Truist Park has been postponed due to inclement weather in Atlanta.

The game will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader on Friday, Sept. 4, starting at 4:10 p.m. The Nats will be flying in from Philadelphia for that series on Thursday night, Sept. 3.

Corbin-Throws-White-Sidebar.jpgThe Nats do not have a game until Friday night, when they open a rare five-game set against the Marlins at Nats Park. So this helps a tired bullpen get back on a normal schedule, and also buys time for the starters. Right-hander Erick Fedde was scheduled to start tonight's game. Left-hander Patrick Corbin was expected to start Friday's series opener against the Marlins.

But with no availability tonight, due to the Nats traveling back to D.C., we will have to wait until Thursday to find out manager Davey Martinez's plan for his starters this weekend.

The postponement actually works in the Nats' favor. It allows the bullpen and starters two days in a row to rest. The Nats will now not have another day off until Sept. 9, so they will take full advantage of this time off until Friday.
