Kieboom earns first big league hit, Harper RBI (Dodgers win 4-1)

The Dodgers got off to a quick start with a triple by Joc Pederson against Tanner Roark in the first inning. He came around to score on a sacrifice fly to left field by Yasmani Grandal. Roark labored 21 pitches in the first frame.

Kieboom swing patriotic tall.jpgIn the third, Wilmer Difo and Spencer Kieboom singled. For Kieboom, it was his first Major League base hit. Bryce Harper's single to center scored Difo. Harper was seen wearing sport specs at the plate for the first time this season.

Roark settled in to keep the Dodgers scoreless for three frames in a row. He has five strikeouts.

After three and a half innings, the Nationals and Dodgers are tied at 1-1.

Update: In the fifth, the Dodgers enjoyed base hits by Logan Forsythe and Pederson. Each has two hits on the day. Cody Bellinger's fielder's choice grounder to second base scored Forsythe.

Mid-fifth, the Dodgers regain the lead 2-1. Roark has six strikeouts.

Update II: Grandal singled and scored on a Max Muncy double down the right field line. Roark managed to induce a 4-3 double play to end the threat. That's likely it for him.

Mid-sixth, Dodgers lead 3-1.

Update III: Stripling finished six innings, allowed one run on four hits with a career-high nine strikeouts. He threw 96 pitches, 66 for strikes.

Update IV: Roark lasted seven inings, surrendering three runs on six hits with one walk and eight strikeouts. He threw a season-high 117 pitches, 74 for strikes.

After seven innings, Dodgers lead 3-1.

Update V: Facing Trevor Gott, the Dodgers score another run on a sacrifice fly to deep left field by Muncy. Howie Kendrick injured his right leg on the throw in and had to leave the game. He was carted off to the center field tunnel. Andrew Stevenson replaced Kendrick.

Mid-eighth, the Dodgers lead 4-1.

Update VI: In the ninth against Kenley Jansen, Anthony Rendon popped out to right field. Matt Adams popped out to second for the second out. Stevenson grounded out to second to end the game.

Final score: The Didgers 4, the Nats 1.
