LaRoche stays hot in New York (Nats win 6-2)

Adam LaRoche has brought his hot bat to New York. With a man on first in the first inning, LaRoche launched a two-run home run to right field off of Mets starter Bartolo Colon. laroche-swing-beard-red-sidebar.jpgThe blast was LaRoche's fourth in the last seven days. The Nationals first baseman has nine RBIs in that stretch. Tanner Roark will start the game with a 2-0 lead. Update: This is Adam LaRoche's world and we're all living in it. LaRoche picked up another hit in the third inning to drive in Jayson Werth and extend the Nats' lead to 3-0. Werth doubled for the 34th time this year with one down in the inning. The Nats loaded the bases after Ian Desmond reached on a throwing error and a Bryce Harper single. The Nationals added another run on Wilson Ramos' RBI groundout. Roark now has a 4-0 lead as the game moves to the bottom of the third. Update II: Rendon crushed a two-run shot in the fourth, his 19th of the season, and the Nationals lead 6-0. Colon hit Werth with the next pitch and was tossed by the home plate umpire John Tumpane. Manager Terry Collins was ejected for arguing with the umpire. Update III: Anthony Recker, who replaced catcher Travis d'Arnaud, promptly hits a solo homer to lead off the fifth and the Nationals lead 6-1. Update IV: Roark threw 6 and 1/3 innings, allowed seven hits, two runs, one homer, one walk and struck out one. He tossed 87 pitches, 60 for strikes. The Mets scored a run in the sixth on a Dilson Herrera single and the Nationals lead 6-2. Craig Stammen came in and induced a 6-4-3 double play to get out of a bases loaded jam. Update V: Ross Detwiler pitched a perfect ninth inning to close out the Nats' 6-2 win over the Mets. Roark improves to 13-10 on the season. With the win, the Nats are now 83-62 and reduce their magic number to nine.
