Marlins squeak past Nationals 6-5 in 11 innings

The Florida Marlins edged the Washington Nationals 6-5 on an RBI double by Greg Dobbs in the 11th inning before 19,503 at Nationals Park on Friday night. With one out in the 11th, Omar Infante singled off Nationals reliever Brian Broderick (0-1). Dobbs' one-out hit down the right-field line scored Infante, who reached his right hand around the tag of catcher Wilson Ramos and was called safe by home plate umpire Paul Nauert. The rest of the Marlins' offense was built around solo homers from Gaby Sanchez, John Buck, Logan Morrison and Mike Stanton. With Florida leading 5-4 following Morrison's blast in the eighth, the Nationals rallied behind a pair of walks off Marlins reliever Mike Dunn. With Jayson Werth at third, Laynce Nix slapped a run-scoring double down the right-field line to tie the game at 5. Earlier, center fielder Roger Bernadina kept the Nationals in the game with some timely hits and what could be the defensive highlight of the season. Bernadina had a game-tying, two-run double and a diving over-the-shoulder sno-cone catch of a Stanton drive to deep center, garnering a standing ovation from the hometown crowd. Bernadina lifted the Nationals to a 4-all tie in the fourth inning with an RBI double. He went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
