Minor notes

The rough early season for the Harrisburg Senators offense is starting to show with the moves the team is making. Unfortunately, the Nats have given up on outfielder Michael Daniel. Daniel batted only .182 with no homers and just 2 RBI in 19 games. The University of North Carolina product was a seventh round selection in the 2005 first year player draft. Bill Rhinehart has been transferred to Potomac after batting .196 in 28 games. Pedro Lopez has been promoted to Syracuse, but he is hitting only .174. Josh Johnson was assigned to the Senators from Vermont, and Marvin Lowrance and pitcher Zech Zinicola were transferred to the Senators from Syracuse. I also got a chance to watch the Potomac Nationals take on the Winston-Salem Dash from Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge. It was good to see pitching coach Paul Menhart. He was excited to see catcher Derek Norris back healthy and is impressed with Stephen Lombardozzi so far. As for the game, Seth Loman hit a two-run shot deep over the right field fence off of Marcos Frias in the first inning, with the Dash scoring 3 runs in the first inning to set the tone. The Dash beat the P-Nats 4-1. Mondays are $1 general admission nights and $1 hot dogs. Take Prince William Parkway instead of the Occoquan/Woodbridge exit if you are coming to the games down I-95 South. It helps cut off the Old Bridge Road stop-and-go traffic. They also have freshly squeezed lemonade and Cherrywine slushies, plus Ben's Chili Bowl down the first base line. Of course, I bought a hamburger before I realized it was $1 hot dog night. It was still good! There are plenty of activities for kids and families to be involved in, including the Uncle Slam race, bowling down the third base line and the tennis ball toss. Parking is only $4. They are home all week and Jason Marquis will have a rehab start for the P-Nats Tuesday night.
