New at Oriole Park

They're old and retired, but barely a few days old. You've probably seen them at the Yard and wondered if they're here to stay. They're the retired number discs dotting the upper deck in left field at Camden Yards.

As part of a series of ongoing upgrades and enhancements to Oriole Park, the Orioles have fixed all six retired Orioles numbers, as well as a blue and white 42 for Jackie Robinson, to permanent perches in the seating bowl. The retired number statues peppering Edward Bennett Williams Plaza outside of Gate H aren't making an exit - on the contrary, these statues received a little TLC this offseason when the Jackie Robinson statue was being added. The discs in the seating bowl were simply added as another way to honor those who have touched the Orioles and baseball more than most. The extra tribute comes shortly before four of the individuals are to be honored at Oriole Park as members of the 1970 World Series Championship team this weekend.
