Orioles announce spring training schedule and report dates

The Orioles already can plan ahead to 2022 spring training, with their first exhibition game played on Saturday, Feb. 26 against the Yankees at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota. Fla. They travel to Port Charlotte the following day to face the Rays.

Pitchers and catchers are set to report to the complex on Feb. 15, with the full squad due five days later.

This is the Orioles' 13th spring training in Sarasota after moving out of Fort Lauderdale. More than one million fans have attended games at Ed Smith Stadium.

Unless there's a late change, the club will break camp after playing split-squad games on March 27 against the Pirates in Sarasota and the Blue Jays in Dunedin.

The Pirates provide the opposition in five games, the most on the schedule. The Orioles also host the Braves, Tigers, Phillies and Twins.

The road portion includes two trips to Fort Myers to play the Red Sox and two to play the Twins. There's also two stops in Tampa to face the Yankees, two in Port Charlotte for the Rays, two in North Port for the Braves, two in Clearwater for the Phillies and two in nearby Bradenton for the Pirates.

There's only one trip to Dunedin to play the Blue Jays and one to Lakeland for the Tigers. No one is complaining.

The only off-day, unless there's rain, is March 8. The Orioles have split-squad games the following day against the Tigers at home and Rays on the road.
