Orioles lineup vs. Nationals

Cedric Mullins is out of the lineup tonight as the Orioles conclude their two-game series against the Nationals and prepare for their next road trip.

Austin Hays is in center field and leading off. Trey Mancini is in right field and Anthony Santander is starting in left.

Adley Rutschman is the designated hitter against Washington left-hander Patrick Corbin.

Rutschman has reached base in nine of his last 10 games since June 10, slashing .306/.359/.556 (11-for-36) with six doubles, a home run, four RBIs, three walks and six runs scored in that span.

Tyler Nevin is playing third base and Richie Martin is at second.

Tyler Wells has registered a 3.62 ERA and 1.073 WHIP in 13 starts, and he’s turned in quality starts in three of his last four outings. He made one relief appearance against the Nationals last year and allowed one run and three hits in two innings.

Ryan Mountcastle has a hit in nine of his last 10 games, slashing .372/.386/.744 (16-for-43) with four doubles, four home runs, nine RBIs and 10 runs scored.

Hays has struck out in five consecutive at-bats.

The Orioles were shut out last night for the fifth time this season. They’re 17-17 at home.

Corbin is 3-9 with a 6.59 ERA and 1.780 WHIP in 14 starts. His 97 hits and 51 earned runs in 69 2/3 innings led the majors last night.

Corbin has made six career appearances against the Orioles, including five starts, and posted a 5.34 ERA and 1.344 WHIP in 32 innings. Anthony Santander is 3-for-8 with two doubles against him, and Trey Mancini is 3-for-8 with a double.

Former Oriole Nelson Cruz has reached base in 25 of his last 30 games dating back to May 20, batting .333/.410/.509 (36-for-108) with 10 doubles, three home runs, 18 RBIs, 13 walks and 15 runs scored.

Juan Soto leads the majors with 56 walks.

Washington has won its last two games after losing eight in a row. The Nats are 4-35 when scoring three runs or fewer.
