Orioles reinstate left-hander Brian Duensing, designate right-hander Odrisamer Despaigne for assignment

The Orioles today announced that they have reinstated left-hander Brian Duensing from the 60-day disabled list and designated right-hander Odrisamer Despaigne for assignment.

Duensing, 33, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 22 (retroactive to June 20) with left elbow inflammation. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on July 3. Duensing pitched in five rehabilitation games between Double-A Bowie (three games) and the Gulf Coast League Orioles (two games), posting a 1.00 ERA (1 ER/9.0 IP) with nine strikeouts. In seven games with the Orioles this season, he has pitched to a 5.40 ERA (4 ER/6.2 IP) with three strikeouts. Duensing has gone 41-37 with a 4.14 ERA (302 ER/656.0 IP) and 431 strikeouts over 361 career major league games (61 starts).

Despaigne, 29, went 1-9 with a 3.87 ERA (38 ER/88.1 IP) over 18 games (17 starts) with Triple-A Norfolk. He pitched in 16 games with the Orioles this season, going 0-2 with a 5.60 ERA (17 ER/27.1 IP).
