Orioles reinstate Matt Wieters from paternity list; option Caleb Joseph to Triple-A Norfolk

The Orioles today announced that they have reinstated catcher Matt Wieters from the paternity leave list and optioned catcher Caleb Joseph to Triple-A Norfolk.

Wieters, 30, has hit .240/.294/.381 (75-for-312) with 12 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 45 RBIs over 91 games with the Orioles this season. The four-time All-Star ranks third in the American League with 43 RBIs as a catcher this season. Over 849 career major league games, Wieters has hit .256/.317/.419 with 110 home runs and 416 RBIs.

Joseph, 30, batted .193/.240/.211 (22-for-114) with two doubles and six runs scored over 40 games with the Orioles this season. In 222 career major league games, he hit .218/.277/.349 with 27 doubles, one triple, 20 home runs and 77 RBIs.
