Post-game Notes: Sox even series vs. O's

Slow night on offense - After scoring 13 runs in winning the last two games, tonight the Orioles were held to one run on four hits. The O's were just 4 for 30 at bat in the game, leaving 11 men on base and going 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position. They have been held to three runs or less eight times in the last 14 games and 17 times in 35 games since the All-Star break. The Orioles are 1-16 in those contests. The O's did not homer tonight, ending their streak of six consecutive games with at least one longball. They had hit 11 homers in the six games. The season high is seven games in a row with a homer. The O's had scored 44 runs with a team batting average of .303 this season in the first seven games vs. Chicago. No win streak - The O's were denied their first three-game win streak since taking three in a row at Philadelphia June 19-21. Brian Roberts streak of three straight games with a homer ended as did his 11-game batting streak. Roberts went 0 for 3 with two walks and was robbed of hits twice by third baseman Gordon Beckham. Roberts did steal second base in the third inning. It's the 252nd steal of his O's career, tying him with Al Bumbry for second on the O's all-time list. Brady Anderson is first with 307 steals. Nolan still rollin' - Nolan Reimold had a triple among his four at bats, extending his batting streak to nine games. He is batting .286 (10 for 35) during the streak. Reimold picked up his 5th outfield assist of the year tonight when he threw a runner out at third base in the 7th inning. The Orioles lead the AL with 29 outfield assists, Chicago is second with 26. Losing pitcher David Hernandez gave up three runs over four innings, throwing 96 pitches. His ERA is 7.11 over his last four starts. The O's are 2-3 on this road trip and 20-42 on the road on the year. They are 4-4 on the season vs. the Sox and 13-13 on the year vs. the AL Central.
