Rendon sets career high with 42nd double (Nats win 7-3)

The Marlins jumped out quickly on right-hander Stephen Strasburg with a leadoff single by JT Riddle and an RBI double courtesy of Miguel Rojas.

In the bottom of the first, the Nationals didn't waste any time scoring against Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara. Adam Eaton led off with a walk. One batter later, Bryce Harper doubled and Eaton went to third base.

Strasburg has four strikeouts, two walks and a hit by pitch through three innings.

The Nats loaded the bases in the third with two outs, but Wilmer Difo grounded out to first base to end the threat.

After three in D.C., the Nationals lead the Marlins 2-1.

Update: In a span of three pitches, the Nats scored four runs in fourth. Eaton walked with one out and reached third on Trea Turner's double. Harper brought Eaton home with a sacrifice fly to left field for his 100th RBI on the season, a new career high.

Rendon then slammed a two-run shot, his 23rd, and Juan Soto followed with a solo homer, his 21st. The 66 RBIs for Soto passes Mickey Mantle (1951) into fourth place on the all-time list for teenagers.

Strasburg went four innings, allowing one run on three hits with four walks, one wild pitch, one hit by pitch and five strikeouts. Strasburg threw 100 pitches, 59 for strikes.

After four innings, the Nats lead 6-1.

Update II: Matt Wieters led off the fifth with a solo shot, his eighth homer of the season.

Mid-sixth, the Nats lead the Marlins 7-2.

Update III: Sean Doolittle pitched a scoreless ninth.

Final score: Nats 7, Marlins 3.
