Sox beat O's 7-5

Tonight's game between the Orioles and the Red Sox wasn't your ordinary ballgame. Through nine innings, the two teams combined to score 11 runs; walk 11 times; get 27 hits and use 13 different pitchers.

Dave Trembley talks with Gary Thorne about the O's never giving up in the loss

The Orioles battled tonight, but the Red Sox came through when it counted. The game was tied 4-4 in the seventh when the Sox brought in Victor Martinez to pinch-hit with the bases loaded. It didn't take him long to unload the bases. Victor Martinez gave the Red Sox a 7-4 lead and unlike the Orioles, the Sox wouldn't give it back. Jason Berken looked good for a rookie facing a ballclub that hit six homeruns the night before, but the walks in the first killed him. Dave Trembley had to use six different relievers to get through the last 3 2/3 innings. Danys Baez gave up the three-run double to Martinez, but the first run that scored was credited to Matt Albers, who earned the loss in tonight's game. A win tonight would have been huge for the Orioles so they could've carried that momentum into their three-game series against New York. Chris Tillman will pitch for the Orioles Friday against the Yankees.
