Game Preview Orioles (58-83) at New York (91-52) The Orioles entered their weekend series with the Yankees with just one win in their last 24 combined games at Boston and New York. Today, with a victory, they could pick up their first three-game sweep at New York since June 6-8, 1986. The O's sent rookie starters to the mound the last two games, but Chris Tillman and Brian Matusz both produced wins and are a combined 2-0, 3.75 in this series. The O's won 10-4 Friday and 7-3 on Saturday afternoon. This afternoon at New York, at 1:05 p.m. Jeremy Guthrie (10-13, 4.96) pitches for the Orioles vs. New York lefty CC Sabathia (16-7, 3.40). With two wins in this series, the O's have their first AL East road series victory of 2009. They had been 0-8-1 in such series. The Birds offense has come to life in this series. After scoring just five runs in two games at Boston, the Orioles have 17 runs on 26 hits at New York.
