That's more like it

The Orioles needed this. Ty Wigginton's two-out, two-run double in the third inning today not only broke a scoreless tie, but it seemed to relax the Orioles a bit. The Birds picked up an 8-3 win at Oakland today to avoid the four-game sweep and end a nine-game losing streak.

Wigginton added a two-run homer to left in the 9th for a 2 for 5, 4-RBI game. He had just three hits in the series but they all went for extra bases as he hit a two-run homer Friday night. Over his last six games, Wigginton has four homers and 10 RBI. Brian Matusz picked up his second win of the year, going 6 1/3, allowing three runs and he outdueled A's lefty Brett Anderson. Anderson gave up six runs after pitching 12 shutout innings over his first two starts. The O's, who scored seven runs total in the first three games of this series, picked up a season-high eight today.
