Tigers announce starters for Division Series

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus told reporters today in Detroit that he's sending Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, David Price and Rick Porcello to the mound for the Division Series.

Mickey Lolich must not be available.

Scherzer (18-5, 3.15 ERA in 33 starts) is 3-1 with a 3.92 ERA in six career starts against the Orioles, with nine walks and 45 strikeouts in 39 innings, and 1-0 with a 4.95 ERA in three starts at Camden Yards.

Scherzer is 11-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 14 starts at home and 7-4 with a 3.49 ERA in 19 starts on the road.

Verlander (15-12, 4.54 ERA in 32 starts) is 9-2 with a 3.43 ERA in 15 starts against the Orioles and 7-0 with a 2.84 ERA in eight starts at Camden Yards.

Verlander's season ERA is higher than usual, but he's probably been distracted, if you know what I mean.

Price (15-12 with a 3.26 ERA in 34 starts) is 7-3 with a 2.82 ERA in 17 starts against the Orioles and 6-2 3.27 ERA in 11 games (nine starts) at Comerica Park.

Price is 4-4 with a 3.59 ERA in 11 starts since the Rays traded him.

Porcello (15-13 with a 3.43 ERA in 32 games, including 31 starts) is 3-5 with a 4.28 ERA in nine starts against the Orioles and 36-29 with a 4.58 ERA in 89 starts at Comerica Park.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter still hasn't announced his rotation beyond Game 1 starter Chris Tillman.
