Tillman wins and offense explodes in 16-6 romp

On the night Chris Tillman picked up his first Major League win, he got overshadowed by a stunning night of Orioles' offense. Felix Pie became the fourth Oriole to hit for the cycle and the O's tied a team-record with 12 extra-base hits in a 16-6 romp over the first-place Angels. All this offense from an O's club that scored seven total runs in the Oakland series and had scored 12 total runs the last five games. Pie joined Brooks Robinson, Cal Ripken Jr. and Aubrey Huff as Orioles that have hit for the cycle. He had an RBI double in the first, a solo homer in the third, and he picked up two hits in a seven-run 7th - an infield single and two-run triple. The four hits is a new career-high for Pie. Cesar Izturis added a single, double, triple and 3 RBI as the O's numbers eight and nine hitters combined for seven hits, 7 RBI and five runs scored. The O's batted around twice in a six-run 1st and with that seven-run seventh. Brian Roberts had four hits, three doubles and two RBI and Huff added a two-run double. Tillman, now 1-0, gave up 3ER and seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. His ERA is 3.38 over his last two starts. Losing pitcher Jared Weaver lasted just 3 1/3 innings, his shortest outing of the year, and gave up nine hits and eight runs. The O's set season highs in runs and hits and had nine doubles to tie the club record and set a Major League high for any team this season. LAA......6-12-0 Balt.....16-19-1
