Welcome Matt (updated)

Show of hands if you knew that Pat Burrell was playing for the Giants. Burrell gave the Giants a 2-1 lead in the second inning with his second home run since returning to the National League. Chris Tillman's fastball isn't breaking 90 mph and it's up in the zone. And would you believe he's getting hit hard in two innings? Pitching coach Rick Kranitz went to the mound, presumably with instructions to keep the ball down. Matt Wieters briefly tied the game, 1-1, with his fifth home run. Just when I get used to Wieters looping balls into the outfield, he crushes one 400 feet. You see the power potential. It just hasn't surfaced on a regular basis. Earlier today, interim manager Juan Samuel told reporters that Felix Pie would take batting practice in Sarasota tomorrow as the latest progression in his baseball-related activities. Pie told me last month that he could return by June 25 at the latest, but I wasn't as confident. Maybe it wasn't such a reach. He'll need to go on a minor league rehab assignment before the Orioles activate him. And then he'll need to, please, stay healthy. Update: The Giants scored five runs in the second inning to lead, 6-1. Tillman has allowed six hits, walked a batter and thrown 44 pitches.
