No RBI with a RISP (updated)

It started to pour, then it stopped.

Cesar Izturis reached on an error by Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia leading off the seventh inning, and he moved up on a sacrifice. Miguel Tejada popped up, but Nick Markakis walked with the count full on a pitch so close that Red Sox starter John Lackey hopped in the air and spun away in frustration.

Ty Wigginton couldn’t break the tie, bouncing into a force after getting ahead, 3-0.

And so it continues...

Interim manager Juan Samuel is hitting his bullpen hard again today, using Matt Albers, Mark Hendrickson and Jason Berken after starter Brian Matusz left the game.

Update: Scott Moore just doubled into the right field corner to score Adam Jones from first base and give the Orioles a 3-2 lead in the eighth. Jones reached on a fielder’s choice after failing to advance Luke Scott with a bunt toward the mound.

Michael Aubrey must have come off Triple-A Norfolk’s disabled list. He was used as a pinch-hitter today and played first base.

Double-A Bowie’s game against Erie was suspended because of rain. Steve Johnson faced nine batters and retired them all, as I noted earlier today.

Joe Mahoney hit a two-run homer for Single-A Frederick, which got a late start on its game because of the weather.
