Getting Wiggy with it

Ty Wigginton has homered in two straight games, his two-run shot today in the fourth inning reducing Tampa Bay’s lead to 4-2.

Wigginton has passed Adam Jones for the team lead in home runs with 16.

Are the Texas Rangers paying attention? Any other teams?

He’s heating up again at the right time.

Jones followed with a single. He’s hit safely in 31 of his last 39 games.

Jake Fox doubled to score Jones. The Rays’ lead is down to 4-3.

Don’t grow too attached to Troy Patton. Interim manager Juan Samuel suggested that the left-hander could be optioned tomorrow to make room for Kevin Millwood.

Corey Spoone improved to 7-5 with a 3.70 ERA at Double-A Bowie after allowing three runs and six hits in seven innings in the Baysox’s 6-5 victory over Binghamton. Spoone walked four and struck out seven.

Brian Roberts went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Still no word on whether the Orioles will activate him this weekend, in Toronto or in Kansas City.

Brandon Waring, starting again in left field, went 3-for-3 with three doubles, a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored.
