Orioles lineup vs. Royals in Game 4 (Guthrie update)

KANSAS CITY - Delmon Young is getting his second postseason start today for the Orioles as they attempt to avoid a sweep in the American League Championship Series.

Young is serving as the designated hitter against Royals Game 4 starter Jason Vargas. He also started Game 3 of the Division Series against the Tigers.

Nelson Cruz moves to left field. Ryan Flaherty remains the third baseman instead of switch-hitting Jimmy Paredes. Caleb Joseph is catching and batting seventh.

Note: Jeremy Guthrie apologized to Orioles fans today for his choice of T-shirt following Game 3, saying he had no intention of being disrespectful.

“You’ll never see the shirt again,” Guthrie said in the interview room. “It was sent to me and it will be sent to the garbage.”

Guthrie said a few former teammates told him that the shirt - which read “These O’s Ain’t Royal” - was a low blow.

“I was blinded to the fact that something I thought was fun was offensive,” he said.
