Orioles lineup vs. Indians

Richie Martin is playing shortstop tonight and Chris Davis is batting cleanup again as the Orioles continue their series in Cleveland.

Indians right-hander Jefry Rodriguez is 1-2 with a 2.92 ERA and 1.176 WHIP in four starts over 24 2/3 innings. He’s surrendered only two home runs.

Rodriguez’s last three starts have been quality by definition and he came within one-third of an inning in his season debut. His first major league start came against the Orioles last season with the Nationals and he allowed five runs over five innings.

Trey Mancini and Jace Peterson homered off Rodriguez. Pitcher David Hess is the only other current Oriole with an at-bat against him.

Dylan Bundy RHP

The Indians are now starting Adam Plutko Saturday in his 2019 debut and Shane Bieber Sunday. The Orioles continue to list left-hander John Means Saturday and TBD Sunday.

Carlos Carrasco was supposed to face the Orioles, but he’s starting Monday against the Athletics.

Orioles players, coaches and staff were special guests today of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

On this date in 1967, the Orioles hit seven home runs for the first time in a 12-8 win in Boston. The home runs from Andy Etchebarren, Sam Bowens, Boog Powell and Davey Johnson came in a nine-run seventh inning. Paul Blaier, Brooks Robinson and Frank Robinson also went deep.

The seven-homer game was matched on Aug. 8, 1985 in Anaheim and again on Sept. 26, 2012 versus the Blue Jays. The club record is eight set on June 16, 2015 against the Phillies.
