Orioles and Diamondbacks lineups

PHOENIX - Renato Núñez is playing first base tonight as the Orioles open their series against the Diamondback without the use of a designated hitter.

Chris Davis sits against left-hander Robbie Ray.

Aaron Brooks is making his third start for the Orioles after allowing one run and two hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Brooks made his only career start against the Diamondbacks on Aug. 29, 2015 and held them to two runs in six innings at Chase Field. He doesn’t have much major league experience as a hitter, going 0-for-2 back in 2015.

Ray is 8-6 with a 3.92 ERA and 1.299 WHIP in 21 starts. He’s averaging 11.7 strikeouts per nine innings, but his 57 walks are tied for the National League lead.

Ray has seven quality starts and allowed only one run and two hits with eight strikeouts over six and 6 1/3 innings in back-to-back outings earlier this month.

His only career start against the Orioles came on Sept. 24, 2016 at Camden Yards, when he allowed four earned runs (five total) with six hits and four walks in 3 2/3 innings.

Davis is 2-for-3. Trey Mancini is 1-for-2 with a home run and Pedro Severino homered in his only at-bat.

Adam Jones faces his former team for the first time since leaving as a free agent. He went 4-for-10 with a double in five games against them with the Mariners, including a 3-for-4 night with four runs scored on Aug. 9, 2007 at Camden Yards.

Jones was the left fielder for the Mariners.

He’s in right field tonight, batting behind cleanup hitter and former Orioles prospect Christian Walker.
