Orioles lineup vs. Rays

José Iglesias is out of tonight’s lineup, whether due to a sore quadriceps muscle or shin. Andrew Velazquez gets the start at shortstop as the Orioles try to rebound from yesterday’s doubleheader sweep.

Ryan Mountcastle is the first baseman and cleanup hitter and Chance Sisco is the designated hitter. Bryan Holaday is catching.

Austin Hays is in left field.

Third baseman Rio Ruiz is on the field today for early work on his throws.

Cobb-Throws-Black-Fenway-Sidebar.jpgAlex Cobb is making his penultimate start of the season. He’s 1-4 with a 5.03 ERA and 1.398 WHIP in eight games.

Cobb’s ERA jumped from 4.33 to 5.03 after allowing five runs in four innings against the Yankees in his first appearance after going on the injured list and through COVID-19 testing due to a cold. He faced the Rays on July 31 and allowed two runs and four hits in four innings.

Cobb has never beaten his former team, going 0-3 with a 4.61 ERA and 1.500 WHIP in five starts over 27 1/3 innings.

The Rays clinched a playoff berth last night and they’re sending Tyler Glasnow to the mound.

Glasnow has faced the Orioles twice this summer and allowed four runs with 18 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings.
