SEATTLE - The Orioles’ Double-A Bowie Baysox affiliate will be sending four players to the Eastern League All-Star Game in Akron on Wednesday, July 13. Catcher Chance Sisco, infielder Garabez Rosa, and left-handed pitchers Jayson Aquino and Donnie Hart will represent the Baysox and play for the West Division team in the game.
In 50 games, the 21-year-old Sisco is batting .310 with one homer, 26 RBIs, a .401 on-base percentage and a .803 OPS. Sisco ranks fourth in the Eastern League in batting average and second in OBP. He has been very consistent throughout the year batting .321 in April, .296 in May and .315 in June.
The Orioles’ second-round pick in 2013, Sisco entered this year ranked as the Orioles’ No. 3 prospect by Baseball America. On Tuesday, he was selected to represent the Orioles in the Futures Game on July 10 and play for the United States team.
Rosa is the current Eastern League batting leader. In 50 games, he is batting .357 with six homers, 38 RBIs, a .505 slugging percentage and .876 OPS. He is leading the league in batting by 36 points and ranks sixth in slugging. Rosa recently became the all-time hits leader in Baysox history, passing Caleb Joseph. During spring training, he went 12-for-21 (.571) in big league games with the Orioles.
The Orioles acquired Aquino on April 7 from St. Louis for cash considerations and he is on their 40-man roster. In 14 games (13 starts) for Bowie, he is 4-7 with a 3.25 ERA. Over 80 1/3 innings, he has allowed 84 hits with 22 walks and 55 strikeouts. Over his last six starts, the 23-year-old from the Dominican Republic has an ERA of 1.80. He pitched seven scoreless innings allowing two hits in his most recent start.
The Orioles drafted the 25-year-old Hart in the 27th round of the 2013 draft out of Texas State. He is 2-0 with one save and an ERA of 2.41 in 29 games out of the Bowie bullpen. Over 33 2/3 innings, Hart has allowed 31 hits with six walks and 38 strikeouts. He has pitched to an ERA of 1.69 in June and has yielded an average against of only .154 versus left-handed batters.
