The Orioles today announced their minor league coaching staffs for the 2021 season at their four full-season affiliates, plus for two teams in the former Rookie-level Gulf Coast League and two in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League.
Gary Kendall will begin his third year as manager at Triple-A Norfolk and it’s his 22nd season in the Baltimore organization. He led Double-A Bowie to the 2015 Eastern League championship. Kennie Steenstra is Tides pitching coach, beginning his 17th year with the Orioles. Tim Gibbons begins his first year as Tides hitting coach and Ramon Sambo is on the Tides staff in his 15th year with Baltimore. Malcolm Holland is the Tides development coach, Chris Poole is athletic trainer, and Trey Wiedman is strength and conditioning coach.
Buck Britton, who was a player for seven seasons on the O’s farm, returns to manager Bowie for his third season. Justin Ramsey begins his third year with the Orioles as his second as Baysox pitching coach. Ryan Fuller is the hitting coach. Jeff Kunkel is Bowie’s fundamentals coach and Grant Anders is development coach. Marty Brinker starts his first year at Bowie as athletic trainer and Jon Medici is strength and conditioning coach.
After managing in 2018 at Aberdeen when the IronBirds were a short-season club, Kyle Moore is back to manage Aberdeen in its first year as a Single-A full-season club. Josh Conway enters his first-year as Aberdeen’s pitching coach and Tom Eller will serve as hitting coach. Tim DeJohn is fundamentals coach and Ryan Goll development coach. Adam Sparks will serve as athletic trainer.
Dave Anderson will manage the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds. It’s his 28th season in pro ball. Robbie Aviles begins his second year as pitching coach and Patrick Jones is the Shorebirds’ hitting coach. Matt Packer is fundamentals coach and David Barry is development coach for Delmarva. Gary Smith is in his first season as athletic trainer while Liz Pardo begins her second season with the club and first with Delmarva as strength and conditioning coach.
Kevin Bradshaw will manage one Complex League team and Alan Mills will skipper the other. These are short-season squads that played in the league formerly known as the Gulf Coast League and are based in Sarasota. Adam Bleday and Joe Haumacher will serve as pitching coaches with Branden Becker and Anthony Villa as hitting coaches. The fundamentals coaches are Christian Frias and Collin Woody. Adam Schuck will serve as development coach. Aliks Lorie is athletic trainer and Brandon Farish is in charge of strength and conditioning for the teams.
Elvis Morel will skipper one team in the Dominican Summer League and Chris Madera will manage the other. The pitching coaches are Dionis Pascual and Andy Sadoski. Ramón Caraballo and Josh Bunselmeyer are hitting coaches. Miguel Jabalera is fundamentals coach and Ramón Lubo the development coach. Brandon Rodriguez and Julio Ibarra will serve as athletic trainers with Julio Diaz as strength and conditioning coach.
