Game 47 lineups: Nats vs. Padres

Don’t shoot the messenger here, but I feel obligated to inform you that there’s a line of thunderstorms approaching from the west as we speak, and so there’s a chance tonight’s game is going to be impacted. Doesn’t appear like this is going to be a complete washout, but the start could be delayed, depending on the timing of this whole thing.

Jeremy Hellickson Throwing Red.jpgAssuming they do play, though, Jeremy Hellickson will be on the mound seeking to duplicate his dominant performance against the Padres from two weeks ago, during which he carried a perfect game into the seventh inning. Based on recent history, I wouldn’t count on Hellickson being allowed to complete the seventh inning or beyond. But if he can just keep doing what he’s been doing, the Nationals will be in good shape.

Davey Martinez is going with the exact same lineup that scored 10 runs last night off a Padres left-handed starter and his bullpen, with another left-handed starter (Eric Lauer) on the mound tonight. So Juan Soto, to no one’s surprise, is back in there batting sixth and playing left field.
