The Ravens had no surprises when they announced their inactives for Thursday night’s Thanksgiving visit from the Steelers.
Safety Brynden Trawick (ankle), safety Omar Brown, tailback Bernard Scott, offensive lineman Ryan Jensen, wideout Deonte Thompson, linebacker John Simon and defensive tackle Brandon Williams were deactivated for the contest.
A name that doesn’t appear on that list, however, is that of tight end Dennis Pitta. But no, Pitta is not back yet.
The Ravens had until 4 p.m. today to add Pitta to the 53-man roster, but declined to do so. The soonest Pitta will be back is Dec. 8 against the Vikings and they have until Dec. 11 to choose whether to activate him from injured reserve/designated to return. He began practicing on Nov. 20, and the team has a three-week window to determine whether to add him to the roster or end his season. Pitta has yet to play in 2013 because of a dislocated hip suffered early in training camp.
The Steelers’ scratches for Thursday included one key name - linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf), who leads Pittsburgh with five sacks. Quarterback Landry Jones, wideout Derek Moye, cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke, tight end Richard Gordon, linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (hamstring) and nose tackle Steve McLendon (ankle) were also deactivated.
Al Woods is starting at nose tackle in McLendon’s place while Jarvis Jones is starting at linebacker for Woodley. William Gay will start at left cornerback.
