Haloti Ngata pulls out of Pro Bowl (Austin to Lions)

Haloti Ngata won't be making his fifth Pro Bowl appearance after all. The Ravens nose tackle will sit out the NFL's All-Star festivities on Jan. 26, and will be replaced by Dallas' Jason Hatcher, the Cowboys announced Thursday.

Ngata finished with 52 tackles, including 1.5 sacks, and three passes defensed in 15 games this season. He isn't missing the game because of injury, but for personal reasons - his wife is due to give birth to the couple's third son on Tuesday.

Ngata was hampered by a left knee injury this season and missed a Nov. 17 loss to the Bears.

Also on Wednesday, Ravens secondary coach Teryl Austin reportedly agreed to terms to join Jim Caldwell in Detroit as the Lions' defensive coordinator.

Austin spent the last three years coaching Baltimore's defensive backs, having also filled the role for seven seasons with the Cardinals and Seahawks.
