John Beck will go from a team with a crowded quarterback group to another team with a crowded quarterback group.
Today’s deal that sent the BYU product from the Ravens to the Redskins in exchange for cornerback Doug Dutch gives the Ravens improved cornerback depth and Beck a fresh start.
“Anytime you get an opportunity like this and you get traded, it obviously shows a team wants you,” Beck said. “Anytime you’re playing for a team that wants you like that, it’s obviously a good feeling.”
While Beck might be excited that the Skins were interested, he’s also disappointed to leave an organization that he said he respects greatly.
“I told John Harbaugh in my exit interview that as excited as I am today to go to this next experience with the Redskins, it’s tough because this is a special football team,” Beck said. “I have a lot of friends on this team and I think this team is going to a Super Bowl contending team.
“It’s going to be tough not being with them. It’s tough to be traded, but I’m still hanging out with my friends because this team has got special people and it’s a special organization.”
