Browns shorthanded against Ravens

As if the Browns didn’t have enough working against them this week - facing the Ravens in their home opener with Baltimore coming off a tough loss last Sunday - Cleveland will be without four key starters this afternoon.

Among the Browns’ inactives today are starting QB Jake Delhomme, RB Jerome Harrison, WR Brian Robiskie and DL Shaun Rogers.

That means Cleveland will start Seneca Wallace at QB, Peyton Hillis at RB, Josh Cribbs at WR and Ahtyba Rubin at NT.

For the Ravens, the only surprise inactive is rookie DT Terrence Cody, who will sit another week. Cody had knee surgery August 31, and while he had expected to be good enough to play this week, the Ravens will give him more time to get back to full strength.

Here are the Ravens’ inactives:

WR Donte’ Stallworth, CB Prince Miller, LB Tavares Gooden, DT Arthur Jones, DT Terrence Cody, T Jared Gaither, DT Lamar Divens and DE Paul Kruger.

Here are the Browns’ inactives:

QB Jake Delhomme, WR Carlton Mitchell, RB Jerome Harrison, LB Marcus Benard, OL Steve Vallos, OL Shawn Lauvao, WR Brian Robiskie and DL Shaun Rogers.

The Ravens will be in their purple jerseys and white pants today, while the Browns are in their white jerseys and white pants.

CB Cary Williams is active today after being suspended for the first two games. The second-year corner will likely be limited to special teams action today, but he told me on Friday he was really excited to get back on the field.

The rain has stopped for now at M&T Bank Stadium, which must thrill those in attendance today. The ponchos and windbreakers might not be needed after all.
