Ravens list Birk, Carr as questionable for Steelers

The Ravens are much healthier going into their Divisional Round game with the Steelers than they were at this time last week, but they still list three players as questionable for tomorrow’s game at Pittsburgh, including two starters.

Center Matt Birk (knee), cornerback Chris Carr (thigh) and safety Tom Zbikowski (back) are all questionable for the Ravens.

Carr said yesterday that he hopes to be able to play, but will need to have a good pregame workout to be cleared to go. He returned to practice today in a limited capacity after sitting out yesterday’s session. Birk also returned to practice and took part in the team walkthrough today, although he also was limited. He’s been given days off to rest his aching knee the last couple weeks, and should be able to play tomorrow.

Zbikowski told me that he feels healthy enough to suit up against Pittsburgh after missing the last four games with a bulging disc in his back, but it will all depend on the numbers game with who the coaches want to activate.

Two other Ravens are listed as probable: linebacker Tavares Gooden (shoulder) and wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth (illness).

For the Steelers, starting defensive end Aaron Smith (triceps) is doubtful for tomorrow’s game.

All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu (Achilles) is probable and head coach Mike Tomlin has said all week that he expects Polamalu to play. Cornerback Bryant McFadden (abdomen) is also listed as probable.
